Remember, remember, the fifth of November, the gunpowder treason and plot
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot
Today, I went to work and did work things. Then I ate a giant cookie for the second half of my lunch and it was good and mushy and scattered crumbs all over my keyboard. Helen, another intern who just started last week (?), brought in carrot cake for the afternoon. And that was good. And then I figured I should stop eating so many sweets, but then I get home and cookies are RIGHT THERE! It's so hard.
Attempted to go see some fireworks this evening, but it fell through because the ones I wanted to see wouldn't be worth the rush. As it turns out, I've been watching a TON of fireworks just outside my bedroom window. Guy Fawkes Day is kind of a big deal over here. And I added my own celebration to the festivities by inviting a few people to my room to watch the infamous V for Vendetta movie by the Watchowski brothers. It was me, Emanuele from Milan, and Our Lovely Oscar. Emanuele liked the movie even though he thought it was a bit strange, and Oscar didn't like V at all. His reaction amused me.
We used Oscar's speakers for the film so we could hear it over the fireworks outside. When the movie was done, he forgot them and I had a mischievous gleam in my eye and I set them up around me in my bed. And just as I was finishing and starting to chat with Dan on Facebook, Oscar came back for them. Darn.
Of course, the big news is Oscar's dislike of V for Vendetta in which I like it because the use of symbols gets me every time. (the ROSES and the DOMINOES). But he dislikes the fact that V is pretentious and gets around all ninja-like with seemingly no explanation and such. I had him FB chat with Dan and Dan just said to read the graphic novel because there are things that were cut and there's no love story and such. But Oscar's not going to read the graphic novel because he's not that interested. Which I'm not going to condone or anything -- he's not interested, he's not interested.
Things yet to do today:
- get going on those weekly class journals for creative writing and internship toolkit
- rank apartments for 2011-2012 and send them back to Sarah
- write a little bit of my story because I would like to just sit and do that for once
Lots of fireworks outside my window. That's it for today. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. Insert corny catchphrase here.
